Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has described Tuesday’s explosion in Ibadan, Oyo State, as a monumental tragedy.

In a condolence message to his Oyo State counterpart, Governor Seyi Makinde, the federal government and the individuals of the state, Prince Abiodun regretted that the wanton lack of lives and the destruction of properties was as a result of neglect and criminality.

The governor praised the swift response of the Oyo State authorities, which promptly dispatched first responders to the scene, thereby saving extra lives.

This was simply as he expressed absolute confidence that the Oyo State authorities would make sure that the perpetrators of the dastardly act have been apprehended and prosecuted, saying that the federal government is on prime of the scenario.

He mentioned: “I lengthen my deepest condolences to the federal government and the individuals of Oyo State following the tragic explosion that occurred in Ibadan on Tuesday.

“Our hearts exit to the households who misplaced their family members and those that have been injured on this devastating incident. We stand in solidarity with the individuals of Oyo State throughout this troublesome time and provide our full help within the restoration and rebuilding efforts.

“The short response by the state authorities, little doubt, saved extra lives, and that is commendable.

“Might the souls of the departed relaxation in peace, and will the injured discover power and therapeutic. Collectively, we are going to overcome this tragedy and emerge stronger.”

Prince Abiodun added that Ibadan is strategic to each Yoruba individual given its historic significance, including that the governments of the South-West states wouldn’t be deterred by the tragic incident, however would “collectively intensify safety throughout our states to make sure that our persons are protected and safe.”
