Teeroy Tyobee, widely celebrated as TeeRoy, emerges as a beacon of talent and inspiration from the Tiv Nation of Benue State, Nigeria. Born to the late Comrade Timothy Wende and Victoria Wende, TeeRoy navigated his early life as the eldest son in a family skeptical of his musical aspirations, urging him instead towards a traditional career path.

Undeterred by familial doubts, TeeRoy’s passion for music burned brightly. Inspired by legends like Michael Jackson, Westlife, and Luther Vandross, he unearthed his musical talents during his teenage years. His journey began with the creation of his first single, “Get There,” in 2008, an inspirational anthem that earned him acclaim among his peers. By 2010, his feature on the love song “Valentine Love” had gained significant airplay and secured him his first radio interview.
TeeRoy’s artistic flair transcended singing; he was an active drama club member in secondary school, winning accolades as the Best Dancer in a state competition and excelling in writing, organizing, and directing drama productions. Despite his family’s lack of support, he pursued his musical dreams while studying sociology at the University of Mkar, a private Christian institution.
During his university years, TeeRoy’s talent shone through in performances at school events and frequent radio interviews. His prominence was further cemented with a feature on the cover of the university magazine, University of Mkar Echo Digest. His music career took a pivotal turn in 2013 when he signed with Famouz 19 Records, co-owning the label. In 2014, he won the Best Lyrics of the Year award from Settle Group Entertainment. His debut album, *The Mirror*, released in 2015, showcased his versatility with inspirational and contemporary tracks.
After initial success, TeeRoy toured Nigeria to promote his music but faced financial setbacks when the record label encountered difficulties. In 2016, he returned home to rebrand, creating school anthems and promotional songs for companies across Nigeria. His work earned him the Best Inspirational Writer award from Benue Industry Night in 2017 and a feature interview by Active Nigeria for his “One Nigeria” project.
A transformative moment came in December 2016 when TeeRoy was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This spiritual milestone inspired a shift in his musical style. Encouraged by missionaries, he renewed his musical ambitions, crafting songs with uplifting and inspirational messages. His first post-conversion track, “The Plan,” reflects on Heavenly Father’s Plan of Salvation. TeeRoy has since performed for Young Single Adults in Nigeria and released several heartfelt songs, including “Are You There? (Heavenly Father)” in 2019 and “Different People (Hate Speech)” in 2020.
In 2022, he released “We Are,” followed by “Heaven” and “Good Old Days” in 2023. Kicking off 2024 with the street anthem “One Call,” TeeRoy expresses his aspirations for transformative opportunities. His music is a testament to his mission to heal and inspire, solidifying his status as more than just an artist but as an icon dedicated to uplifting souls worldwide.
