RCCG suspends City of David's Pastor Idowu Iluyomade

The Metropolis of David Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Lagos has suspended Pastor Idowu Iluyomade as a result of extravagant birthday celebration held by his spouse shortly after the passing of Herbert Wigwe, the previous Group Chief Govt Officer (GCEO) of Entry Holdings Plc.

In response to ChurchTimes, a high-ranking pastor throughout the church, who most popular to stay nameless, said that the choice to droop Iluyomade was made by the governing council in response to public criticism of the get together.

“It wasn’t Pastor Adeboye who suspended him. The governing council determined to droop him. I imagine it’s a step in the best route, although some really feel it’s overdue.”

“They wanted to analyze a few of the allegations in opposition to him and the church,” the supply defined.

Iluyomade’s suspension, as per church sources, was communicated to him through a letter over the weekend.

He has since been changed by Pastor Charles Kpandei from RCCG Resurrection Parish of Area 11.

Wigwe, who tragically handed away in a helicopter crash in February, was a member of the Parish.

Following his demise, Dr. Siju Iluyomade, the spouse of the Parish Pastor, organized a lavish birthday celebration that drew criticism.

Outstanding figures attended the occasion, held on the Eko Motels and Suites, Victoria Island Lagos, which stirred controversy given its timing shortly after the tragic deaths of a outstanding church member and his household.

Chukwudi Iwuchukwu, a social commentator, expressed disapproval, stating, “After all of the charity and benevolence, it’s offensive and inappropriate to host such an extravagant get together every week after the dying of a person whose contributions sustained your husband’s ministry when his physique is barely chilly. I’m wondering what Wigwe would assume within the afterlife seeing such a carnival on the Eko Resort Lagos only a week after his dying. It is a lesson for the residing.”

Comparable sentiments have been echoed on social media, though some dismissed them as distractions.

Notably, indicators of the Wigwe household’s disapproval surfaced when The Metropolis of David Parish was omitted from Wigwe’s funeral applications. Sometimes, church buildings attended by deceased people play important roles of their funeral ceremonies. Nonetheless, one other RCCG Parish in Lagos changed the Metropolis of David for the funeral service.

Throughout one of many providers held for Wigwe, Iluyomade paid tribute to the deceased, describing him as a “God’s basic” and recalling his philanthropic deeds. He highlighted Wigwe’s important contributions to varied charitable tasks, together with help for indigent college students and the nurturing of skills by way of the Herbert Wigwe Basis.

Regardless of these acknowledgments, the timing and method of the lavish celebration organized by the Iluyomades have raised questions and stirred controversy throughout the church group and past.
